Winter Crime: A Kat Makris Greek Mafia Novel Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 456 ratings

Kat Makris is back in Winter Crime, and she’s sporting a new hairdo courtesy of her most recent stylist: fire.

It’s a frigid January, and Kat and her appalling ‘do are stuck at the promenade, performing family duties for the Epiphany festivities. When Father Harry tosses the cross into the water, the divers pull out a bonus dead guy—a dead guy who used to be tight with Kat’s family—and Family.

Although the curiosity is killing her (all Greek DNA comes with a bonus cat hair), Kat has bigger problems. This raging head cold for one. Sexy police detective Nikos Melas won’t come near her because he’s terrified of his mother’s cold remedies, and the dangerously delicious Xander is missing—again. And then there’s the stolen cassette that doesn’t want to be found. Grandma hid it around here somewhere, she just knows it …

Things go haywire when Kat winds up as the recipient of an unusual bequest—a bequest that ruffles a serious amount of feathers. When her lineage is called into question and someone starts shooting at her, Kat wonders if she’d be better off spending winter in the dungeon, hibernating with her bear.

Alex A. King is the author of the Women of Greece series, the Kat Makris: Greek Mafia series, and the Greek Ghouls series. Her books are funny because life is funny. Yes, even tragedy is hilarious, especially when it’s happening to your enemies. While her stories are sprinkled with terrible mothers, her own is wonderful. Her mother wrote this biography, by the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this.

Kat is back in Greece and dying of the dreaded lurgy, while trying to solve the latest caper. As always, this book is unputdownable. I read this from beginning to end in a few hours. The hijinks of the Family is, as always, extremely entertaining. Well paced story, like able characters, it’s a very well crafted book. I look forward to the next one.

Whats not to love about these books! mystery, comedy, guns, mafia, great series.... please keep them coming! But can you please give Kat a makeover, she always seems to be portrayed as a mess.

I just can't believe the trouble Kat finds herself in. You would think by now she has used up all her luck, apparently not. Bring on the next book, I'm ready, I think

Worth five stars due to its charming, loveable family of mobsters-not-mobsters and main character Kat’s affinity to all things pet-related ... and - oh yeah - solving crimes. The creative villains never stand a chance! Thanks, Alex A. King!
