- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 January 2018Platform For Display: Xbox OneEdition: StandardVerified PurchaseHaven’t had a chance to play this game yet as it was a Christmas present and I’ve been so wrapped up reading my books and getting through each individual item at a time. All I can say is I’ve started this up on menu and from I’ve seen so far the mechanics and core engine of the game are far different from it’s predecessor anyone expecting a console rehash of the sims 3 will be sourly disappointed.. the sims 4 at it’s core follows the structures and the game engine of it’s PC counterpart down to the tea, player controls may be hard to adjust to in time but I’m sure I’ll have no issue, if your a massive fan and have played the sims 4 on PC already then I highly recommend the console upgrade, for fans of the sims 3 xbox and PlayStation release expect something different maybe this may not be right for you but that’s just my own opinion.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 January 2024Platform For Display: Xbox OneEdition: StandardVerified PurchaseI got this for my daughter at Christmas and we're both having so much fun playing it. I do wish at times we could play it as a two player together but it's no big deal.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2021Platform For Display: Xbox OneEdition: StandardVerified PurchaseI bought this as a surprise Easter present for my daughter. She used to love playing the first Sims game on my old PC and since I've had a Series X I've allowed her to put the old Xbox One S in her room. She's spent quite a few hours on this now and I've had a good go myself. The format is fairly similar to what it used to be. Design a Sim or family of Sims, then build them a house and get them a job, then try to make them succeed in life. If you've played any Sims game, then this will be familiar to you. As such, rather than go into great detail on what it's about 'essentially helping a little digital person live out their lives' - I'm going to tell you the good and bad points.
Good points:- Graphics are sharper than ever and animations are slicker. It's a visually attractive game. The house design has some nice options and definitely the roof editor is a great addition. The control interface works surprisingly well on a controller.
Bad points:- Loading times can seem strangely slow for what appears to be a fairly low-spec game. If you played an earlier Sims to death then you'll have done all this before and it could quickly become boring. It's quite aggressively monetised, you'll have to bear with me on this. My daughter wanted her Sim to get a cat, but you can't unless you purchase the appropriate DLC. There are various DLC options, so you can just pick the ones you want but a part of me just thinks they should have thrown pets in off the bat. Though the controls work surprisingly well for a controller, this still feels like a definite mouse and keyboard game that's been ported to console. Honestly? I can't help but suspect the PC version with a mouse might actually play better. Still a great, fun game though!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 July 2020Platform For Display: Xbox OneEdition: StandardVerified PurchaseBought for my kids. Been alot of years since I played and I think it's been over complicated now to what it used to be but it's still a great pass time! Graphics are amazing. I think if you have never played it would be a bit infuriating to know what to do etc but I've helped my kids pick it up fairly easily. I just hope theres still such things as cheats we can look up!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 April 2018Platform For Display: Xbox OneEdition: StandardVerified PurchaseI've waited so long to buy this game. After reading so many reviews that the game was too buggy to play, it turned me off the idea of ever buying it. I love The Sims, played every single one on PC and after owning The Sims 3 on Xbox 360, I thought I would give The Sims 4 Xbox One version a chance. I've owned the game for nearly 2 weeks now, been playing a couple hours every night and I love it. The Sims are so detailed. I love all the new emotions, challenges and completing whims for them. Exploring detailed towns, completing dates and special events are awesome.
Now this week, my household of Sims got stuck. None of them would complete any actions, they just got stuck standing, sitting or waiting for something to cook for hours on end. I exited and reloaded the save, got to play for about an hour before it did it again. I created a new household, built them a new house, completely decorated it then let the sims roam around inside. Again, same issue happened. All three sims got stuck and wouldn't complete any actions. They wouldn't go to work, the bathroom or to sleep, they just sat there stuck. Exited game, reloaded and got about an hour of playing time before it happened again. Very frustrating and it doesn't appear as though anyone is going to fix it anytime soon. I started a new household today with just one sim and the same thing happened after less than 20 minutes of playing.
I've only owned this game for three weeks now, it was worth it the first two, but now it's unplayable (for more than an hour at a time) and very frustrating! Not the enjoyable game I was hoping for.
Another bug I've noticed is that if you switch between the menu and free roam with your cursor, the cursor sometimes gets stuck in both menus. You move it around free roam, but each of the sims need menus keep popping up. Anything you select in the menu interacts with something in the world and anything you select in the open world selects something in the menu, so you're stuck with overlapping menus and not being about to do anything for ten or fifteen minutes, before it corrects itself.
I might hang onto it for a few more weeks, before I buy the PC version. I still have the Sims 3 on PC at the moment to keep me entertained.
UPDATE: 14th October 2019 - This game had a few new updates, so I thought I'd update my review. Although the update has fixed the menu bug I mentioned, sims still get stuck. I found a video on youtube to fix this. Basically all you have to do is exit your sim household when this happens. Go to the world menu, edit your sims, save them and return to playing in the household. It can be very frustrating sometimes, but I once got through 8 hours of playing before I had to do this again.

Also alle Sterne voll und alle Daumen hoch!
